Our Instructors

Vocal Instructor - Benjamin Eio

Familiar sunshine face from Singapore Idol Season One, Benjamin Eio, one of the most sought after singer in local music industry has many years of music experiences and is trained in Speech Level Singing (SLS) with the United States professional coaches.

He was also a recording artiste with Hype Records and in-house artiste for famed music school, Lee Wei Song School of Music. Benjamin is also with the vocal group “Echoboys” marketed by Sony BMG in the 90s and is currently a resident singer in Asia’s biggest mando & canto club in Saint James Power Station, Dragonfly.

Guitar Instructor - Shern Wong

Shern remembers falling in love with music at a very young age. His early listening ranged from his parent's collection of ABBA hits in to songs from tv shows and video games, and of course the 80's radio airplay. Ironically his first brush with an instrument was not with the guitar but with the violin at the age of 9. He had formal training but soon found classical music to be boring and dropped it.

It was later on in his teenage years, at the age of 17, he discovered the electric guitar and rock music and fell in love with the magic and havoc that a 6-string through a distorted amp could create. Today, having listened to, and played in, bands with singers regardless of language, Shern has recently kindled an interest in a genre obscure to mainstream music: instrumental rock music. Music without lyrics reaches across language barriers, plus being a guitarist, it all made sense.

In 2009, Shern has taken his first step as an artist and released "Bloom" a 4 track guitar instrumental rock EP. With Bloom released, Shern looks forward to future instrumental releases. Shern's influences include Rosli Mansor, Andy Timmons, Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani, EVH. He also enjoys listening to J-anime and various video game soundtracks. Bloom, was released on 2nd May 2009.

Bass Instructor - Jonathan Sim

Jonathan Sim is presently playing gigs within the local circuit and around the region. He is also a notable figure in the entertainment industry as a professional sessionist to the tv station and major events, judge to Yamaha competitions, music arranger and also performed for President S R Nathan 80th birthday at the Raffles Ballroom.

In future, he is planning to release both a recording of his own music composition and an instructional bass book. Some of his credentials with Yamaha Music includes: Wrote and developed Advanced Bass Guitar Course & Yamaha Bass Guitar Examination Syllabus

Drum Instructor - Alfe Kim

Drummer, Educator, Mentor. Alfe has been a veteran and leader of the local independent music scene for more than a decade.

Through his passion and belief, he has lent his music voice and skill across the varied and vibrant music communities of Singapore, regardless of language and music genre, from the indie to the commercial, from the contemporary to the underground.

He was a member of LIVONIA (1998-2002), an alternative rock band which scored a string of radio hit singles (Zerofeel, Let Go, Vengeance Is Mine) and was recipient of COMPASS Top English Pop Song 2000.

In 2001, Alfe joined OPPOSITION PARTY as permanent support drummer, and has performed in UK, France, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China & South Korea to support their overseas activities.

He is a founding member and the current chairman of DRUM XCHANGE SINGAPORE, a non-profit group that brings drummers together in the spirit of drum knowledge sharing and community-building.

Alfe is endorsed by Mapex Drums and uses Zildjian Cymbals.
